Care & Reciprocity

Care & Reciprocity concerns our ability to recognize value and respond to it. Care can move inward and outward. It can be offered and received. Healthy relationships breathe. What matters is whether movement remains possible in both directions.

The five capacities

Self-Love

Self-Love is the capacity to relate to yourself as someone whose wellbeing has value.

Compassion

Compassion is the capacity to recognize suffering and remain responsive to it without losing discernment.

Receiving

Receiving is the capacity to let something good reach you.

Giving

Giving is the capacity to contribute voluntarily without turning generosity into self-erasure or hidden debt.

Connection

Connection is the capacity to establish, experience, sustain and repair meaningful contact.

How these capacities work together

The capacities do not operate in isolation. These relationship entries describe important feedback loops, tensions and forms of mutual support between them.
