Balance is the capacity to continually negotiate competing demands without expecting life to settle into perfect equilibrium.

Humans are not scales that reach the correct position and remain there. We move between effort and rest, solitude and relationship, certainty and exploration, attention inward and attention outward.
Balance is the skill of noticing when one side has dominated for too long and having enough flexibility to move.
It is therefore dynamic rather than static.
The question is rarely, “Am I perfectly balanced?”
A more useful question is, “Can I feel when something has moved too far in one direction, and can I find my way back?”
