Empowerment is the capacity to translate agency into meaningful influence.
Empowerment is the capacity to translate agency into meaningful influence.
It includes voice, access to action, confidence in one’s ability to affect conditions and the practical resources needed to do so.
This matters because feeling internally powerful and possessing actual power are not the same thing.
A person can have extraordinary self-belief and still face exclusion, poverty, discrimination or institutional barriers.
Empowerment therefore belongs partly to individuals and partly to systems.
At the personal level it asks:
“What can I affect?”
At the social level it asks:
“Who is being given the real ability to participate?”
A serious Inner Technology framework has to care about both.
