Sovereignty is the capacity for self-authorship within interdependence.
Sovereignty is the capacity for self-authorship within interdependence.
It means remaining the legitimate participant in decisions concerning your body, values, attention, relationships and direction.
Sovereignty is not radical independence.
No human being is fully self-sufficient, and pretending otherwise usually hides the networks of care, labor and infrastructure that make autonomy possible.
Healthy sovereignty therefore exists alongside relationship and responsibility.
It sounds less like “Nobody gets to influence me” and more like:
“I can be influenced without being owned.”
“I can belong without disappearing.”
“I can listen without surrendering authorship.”
